Day 1

Meet Wild West Irish Tours at Shannon Airport, County Clare. We take in the beauty of the rolling hills of the heart of County Clare in our comfortable mini-bus, as we make our way to our very comfortable B & B in County Galway. We visit an incredible Irish castle along the way, and enjoy lunch on the shores of Galway Bay. Our destination is a quaint village alongside the breathtaking vista of Lough Corrib. You settle in your B & B, then we take in the local flavour of the area and then head out for dinner and some traditional Irish music.

Day 2

The day starts with a lovely full Irish breakfast at your B & B as we prepare for a full day of adventure in the gorgeous mountains of Connemara! We travel alongside Lough Inagh and on the way, you experience the trails, mountains and woodlands of Connemara State Park. We pass through lovely towns such as Leenane (where the movie “The Field” was filmed) as we head way out west to the magnificent “Sky Road.” Here we get off the beaten trail and explore castle ruins, sacred hidden holy wells and “famine ruins.” If time permits, we take a tour of a majestic castle near the banks of the Corrib. We return home to the B & B, where you have plenty of time to stroll around the village, have dinner and perhaps some more Irish music.

Day 3

We have an early start and head to the “Gaeltacht” for a exhilarating sea journey to one of the Aran Islands, off the Wild West Atlantic Coast! Here you can either explore on your own (on a bicycle if you wish) or have one of the local guides give you an incredible tour of this magical island! We have lunch and mix in with the locals for a pint or two at one of the terrific pubs. We sail home to port and make our way back home for the evening.

Day 4

We head north to the Galway-Mayo border for a little fun and diversion up in a lovely village called Cong. Much of the movie “The Quiet Man” was filmed here, and you have a chance to see the film locations if you wish (including “The Quiet Man Bridge”). We visit Ashford Castle, and explore a monastery ruin and megalithic tomb site before lunch by the riverside. From here, we take in the enchanted Doonbeg Valley of County Mayo and visit some of the hidden gems and towns of this dramatic landscape in the Wild West of Ireland.

Day 5

We say “Slan” to our wonderful hosts at our B & B and make our way to the brilliant town of Ennis in County Clare! Here is your chance to do a little shopping in one of Ireland’s best towns. You can visit the County Clare Museum, which is absolutely fantastic. You can walk down to the legendary Ennis Abbey for a great tour provided by one of the guides there. This is your day to explore the town independently and enjoy the cafes, pubs, and restaurants along the River Fergus. Some of the best Irish traditional music can be experienced in Ennis and the nightlife is always unique and special. Our B & B is located in the Ennis area, at a location which also brings us close to the mystical Wild West Coast Road of County Clare.

Day 6

We head straight back into time and visit a privately-owned Castle, where we have a chance to explore from top to bottom this famed 15th Century Irish Tower Castle. Within a short walk of the castle, we take the Archaeology/History Trail where we will discover ancient sites, tombs, a 12th Century church ruin, a round tower (which was partially destroyed by Cromwell) a holy well and High Cross! We enjoy a cuppa tea and a bite to eat before heading out to our next adventure…Craggaunowen Pre-Historic Park! As if this isn’t enough, we also visit some of the hidden places of East Clare (including the stomping grounds of Brian Boru) near Lough Derg!

Day 7

We have a special, well off-the-beaten-trail tour of the magical and enchanting Burren of County Clare! We walk through the beautiful Burren landscape, which is steeped in history. It is a treasure trove of old churches, monasteries and pre-Christian forts and tombs. Located along the gorgeous Galway Bay, the Burren itself is famous for its limestone rock landscape and beautiful walking trails. Much if it is now a national park. There is also the Burren Perfumery to explore.

Day 8

We visit the majestic Cliffs of Moher! We not only take in the Cliffs, which have an incredible museum nearby, but also have the option to experience the mighty Cliffs of Moher by sea! We head to Doolin and take a cruise and look up at the cliffs after having looked all the way down! We take a scenic drive down to Loop Head and enjoy a final dinner together in a restaurant by the sea.Gem
